Lunch and Presentation by Dr. Ladislav Nejman: The extinction of Neanderthals and expansion of the first Homo Sapiens into Europe

The Abbey Museum Friends invite you to their Annual Lunch and Presentation hosted by Dr Ladislav Nejman, on Saturday, 17th October at the Abbey Hall.

Synopsis
Neanderthals were the indigenous people of Europe for hundreds of thousands of years until approximately 40,000 years ago when they went extinct. Beginning about 50,000 years ago, a new species of humans – Homo sapiens began arriving in Europe from Africa. This was also a time of frequent and extreme climate changes. Modern archaeological research as well as new genetic studies of Neanderthal and ancient modern human DNA have brought many new exciting discoveries and are helping us to reconstruct this ancient world with increasing precision.
