A Regency Ball at Abbey

An Evening of Dance

Join us in September for A Regency Ball at the Abbey as part of the Museum’s 40th Birthday Celebrations and the Abbey History Festival.

The evening will consist of over two hours of dancing, with refreshments and a light repast offered mid-way through to sustain your energy and attention.

The evening will be conducted by Dance Kaleidoscope to ensure all guests are not only behaving in a manner indicative of the times but equipped with the skills and knowledge of the dance moves.

Doors will open at 6.00pm with dancing to commence no later than 6.30pm. The evening will conclude at approximately 9.00pm to ensure all carriages are able to transport you the long journey home before midnight.

Hot & cool beverages will be available throughout the evening, with the light repast around 7.30pm before returning to the dance floor.

Don your best Regency costume and find accessories at the Abbey Shoppe on the day at the Abbey History Festival (separate ticket required).

If you have not yet secured your ticket to the Abbey History Festival, happening on the nearby grounds of Abbeystowe, we highly encourage you to do so without delay. Each morning there will be a free 90 min Regency Dance workshop for those eager to fill their weekend with Regency dancing.

There will be instructors, courtesy of Dance Kaleidoscope, to explain the importance of dance during the Regency period and you will have the opportunity to learn a few different dances. As Regency dances were not physically arduous (a lady would never exert themselves to the state of perspiring) you will still have plenty of energy to see you through the rest of the day’s activities.

We only have 100 placements for this event, so you will need to book early.
