Senior Secondary Students
This program is ideal for Unit 1: Topic 1: “Digging up the Past” in the 2025 QLD Ancient History syllabus v1.1.
With a focus on archaeology, senior students will:
- Explore the museum’s collection of primary artefacts to examine the significance of Ancient Egyptian civilization, aligning with curriculum requirements for using historical sources as evidence.
- Participate in an excavation of a simulated Ancient Egyptian site, applying archaeological techniques to uncover and interpret findings, meeting curriculum goals related to understanding source origins and interpreting evidence.
Cost: $15.95 per student | Minimum: 20 students | Maximum: 30 students
Junior Secondary Students
This program offers an engaging mix of activities that bring Ancient Egypt to life, aligning with the Egyptian Depth Study in the Australian History Curriculum 8.4.
Program Highlights:
- Archaeological Investigation:
- Excavate an Ancient Egyptian site using authentic archaeological techniques. Record and interpret findings to uncover insights into Egyptian funerary customs and daily life (ACDSEH033).
- Mummification DIY:
- Participate in an interactive presentation on the mummification process, exploring how Ancient Egyptians preserved their dead. The presentation also cover concepts of ancient Egyptian religious belief more generally.
- Museum Visit:
- View our collection of Egyptian artefacts, with worksheets available to further support students’ comprehension.
