A Picnic at Pemberley
May 6, 2023 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy requests the pleasure of your company at a Picnic at Pemberley for an afternoon of Regency dancing, a delectable afternoon tea, games and other diversions to be held on the manicured lawns of the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology.
Regency guests will have the opportunity to:
– Enjoy traditional tea cakes and an array of delicious delicacies
– Play Regency era games such as the Game of Graces, Pall-Mall and Shuttlecock
– Learn the etiquette of the Regency Period
– Test your aim with the popular sport of archery
– See the beautiful stained glass windows in the Abbey Church
– Watch or participate in Regency dancing
– Visit the Abbey Museum and marvel at the remarkable scope of its collections, spanning more than 500,000 years of humankind.
Gates open at 12.30pm (earlier for those who have participated in the Dance Workshop). The official proceedings will begin at 1.00pm with afternoon tea served at 2.15pm. Cool beverages will be available throughout the afternoon, hot beverages to be served with afternoon tea.
Don your best Regency costume and find accessories at the Abbey Shoppe on the day.
Add-On ticket for the Regency Dance Workshop at 10.30am:
There will be instructors, courtesy of Dance Kaleidoscope, to explain the importance of dance during the Regency period and you will have the opportunity to learn a few different dances. As Regency dances were not physically arduous (a lady would never exert themselves to the state of perspiring) you will still have plenty of energy to see you through the rest of the day’s activities. We only have 90 placements in this workshop so you will need to book early.
If you are attending the Dance workshop, we recommend you pack a picnic lunch to enjoy whilst you wait for the afternoon festivities to commence.
Event Note: Companion cards are not accepted at this event due to it being fully catered
Ticket Prices:
Adults (15+yrs)* $45.00
Child (14yrs and under)* $30.00
Regency Dance Workshop* $15.00
*Plus booking fee
