On Friday, September 27th, the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology celebrated a significant milestone with the official opening of the Abbey Café.
The café was launched with an exclusive coffee tasting by State Member for Pumicestone, Ali King and Abbey Museum Chairperson, Edith Cuffe.
This opening marks yet another exciting development for the Museum, following the recent construction and opening of the gallery building extension. It represents the culmination of a lifelong dream to expand our display of precious art and artefact collections.
Thanks to $2.35 million in funding from Queensland’s Department of Tourism and Sport, the new café and gallery will enhance tourism opportunities, providing visitors with a welcoming space to relax and recharge during their visit. The café will also complement existing activities for groups and families, such as the popular school holiday program, Kids Dig It.
The launch event was attended by special guests from Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism, members of the Knights of Abbeystowe, the Abbey Community, and local officials.
The Abbey Café will officially open to the public in October, with specific dates to be announced soon.
