Glasshouse Mountains Environmental Heritage Trail
This engaging trail experience allows students to explore the natural and cultural heritage of the Glasshouse Mountains, examining both scientific and Indigenous perspectives. Aligned with the Australian National Curriculum for History, this trail enhances students’ understanding of the ways natural landscapes shape and support communities over time.
Program Highlights:
- Glasshouse Mountains Lookout:
Students will view the Glasshouse Mountains from the scenic lookout, learning about the scientific explanation of their formation and comparing it to the Dreamtime stories that explain their significance in Aboriginal culture. (ACHASSK062 – Recognize the diversity of Australia’s first peoples and the long and continuous connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to Country/Place) - Bora Ring Visit:
Students will visit a traditional Bora Ring, exploring its cultural and ceremonial importance to Indigenous Australians and developing an understanding of the significance of sacred sites. (ACHASSK083 – The importance of Country/Place to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples who belong to a local area) - Axe-Grinding Site:
At this historic site, students will discover the traditional use of axe-grinding and its role in daily life, learning how resources from the environment were utilized sustainably by Indigenous communities. (ACHASSK086 – How people in different places have adapted to environmental conditions over time)
Cost: $15.95 per student | Minimum: 20 students (or equivalent cost $319) | Maximum: 60 students per day (Larger groups cannot be accommodated due to size limitations at locations)

This excursion requires approximately 3–4 hours, including breaks. The program is fully customizable to meet the specific needs of your group.
