Help us complete the conservation of our stained glass

There are about 50 panels of stained glass in the Abbey Museum collection. They form the most significant collection of historical stained glass in Australia and include medieval fragments and panels, Renaissance and Baroque glass, and a range of Neo-Gothic English Victorian and Edwardian glass.

We are currently raising funds for two of our windows – St Rosalia, a 17th Swiss or German panel depicting a kneeling saint on a rocky outcrop overlooking a city and a major panel featuring the Royal Arms family of Aragon, one of the most important medieval Spanish kingdoms. This window is fragmentary but enough remains for a major conservation project.

Help us preserve these beautiful windows for the next 100 years. Donate now. To conserve these two panels we need to raise $14,700

Stained Glass Collection

Over the last 11 years the Abbey Museum has been raising funds for the conservation of the significant collection of stained glass. With the support of many individual donors, the fundraising efforts of the Abbey Museum Friends, the Copland Foundation and the Regional Arts Development Fund we have raised over $163,000 and now are looking to raise a further $50,000 for the panels that are currently in storage and cannot be displayed because of the need for conservation.

Help us preserve these beautiful windows for future generations. They’ve lasted hundreds of years already, let’s make them last hundreds more.  Be a part of these sustainability efforts and keep Art alive in our communities.
