This presentation analyses Viking military technology, cultural norms and tactics and how their strategy to warfare evolved.

Out of the northern mist came the Vikings to wreck terror across Western Europe and beyond. In this presentation, we will hear how Viking or Norseman military technology was shaped by geographical, cultural, and economic factors. Their geographical location played a crucial role in the technological advancements in ships and navigation spurred on by Viking cultural values. The economic prosperity of Viking society, provided by the wealth accumulated from trade and plunder, allowed investment in the development of advanced weapons and shipbuilding techniques. These key factors combined to create a uniquely effective art of war. This presentation analyses Viking military technology, cultural norms and tactics, explains their rapid success, and how their strategy to warfare evolved.
