Behind the Scenes: Conserving an Egyptian Mummy Mask

March 28 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

After being safely returned following its recent theft, our Egyptian mummy mask is now undergoing live conservation at the Abbey Museum.

Visitors will be able to watch as a professional conservator carefully examines and stabilises the mask, helping ensure this remarkable artefact can continue to be safely displayed for years to come.

It’s a rare opportunity to see the delicate work that protects objects thousands of years old.

Our Senior Curator will also be on hand to answer questions, so you can learn more about the mask, conservation, and the incredible journey it has taken.

Make a morning of it, come, and see conservation in action and enjoy a lovely morning tea in the café while you’re here. (Cafe open 10am – 2pm)

Book ahead on our online booking page to join us Saturday 28th March and Saturday 11th April.

Included with standard entry fee.
