What students need to bring on their visit
As part of their experience at the Abbey Museum, students will be spending time outside.
Students need to:
- Wear covered outdoor shoes, hats, sunscreen and insect repellent
- Bring a water bottle – refill stations are available at the museum as there are no refill options on the Environment Heritage Trails.
- Long pants are recommended for the Environmental Heritage trails.
The Abbey Museum does have a gift shop. We allow students to purchase gifts as long as this fits with school policy.
Getting to the Abbey Museum
The Abbey Museum is located on the road from Caboolture to Bribie Island, between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Take Bribie Island exit 152 off the Bruce Highway. At approximately 4 kilometres along Bribie Island Road, turn left onto Old Toorbul Point Road and follow directions for parking.
Caboolture is 45 minutes from the Brisbane CBD and 30-45 minutes from the Sunshine Coast.
Arriving at the Museum
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of your experience and park your bus in the space provided.
Come to the front desk at the Museum, and your educator will be there to greet you.
Bag storage
We have no bag storage facilities at the Abbey Museum. Students can store their bags undercover at the entrance to the Abbey Museum or at the patio at the Abbey Hall, check with the staff as to where will be suitable for your group.
Supervision of students
Our education officers will instruct your students according to which program you have chosen; however, teachers still need to supervise their students. Please remember we may have other visitors in the Abbey Museum, and students should keep noise levels down and consider the impact of their behaviour on other Abbey Museum visitors.
Morning Tea and Lunch
The Abbey Museum is surrounded by pleasant grounds that provide a great setting for lunch and morning tea. We have no canteen or café facilities at the Museum, so students must bring their morning tea, lunch and water bottles.
No food or drinks are allowed inside the Museum.
Toilets
Male, female and disabled toilets are located just outside the Abbey Museum and are easily accessible.
Individual Needs
All areas and entrances in the Museum are wheelchair accessible. There is an extensive network of pathways and shade covers over our outdoor learning areas.

Wet Weather
As parts of your education experiences at the Abbey Museum may be outdoors, wet weather may require a change in the schedule or activities. If it is raining, please contact the Abbey Museum before arriving. (07) 5495 1652
