Knights & Chivalry

Secondary students

Investigate the life of a knight and their code of chivalry. Students will:

  • Explore European medieval social structure with an emphasis on the nobility
  • Separate the myths and facts of medieval knighthood
  • Discuss the customs and training of a medieval knight
  • Examine replica medieval armour and weaponry
  • Students will try their hand at traditional archery
  • Explore the Museum’s collection of medieval artefacts
  • See Medieval stained glass windows (subject to availability of the Abbey Church)
  • Optional – Play Medieval games

Minimum 20 students (or equivalent cost $297), maximum 150 students (contact us for options with larger groups)

Cost: $14.85 per student

Primary students

This program looks at many aspects of medieval life. Primary school students can:

  • Excavate medieval artefacts in our mini archaeological dig
  • Examine replica medieval armour and weaponry
  • Play medieval games
  • Test out medieval technology – firing a trebuchet
  • Train like a Page – experience the training a potential knight will endure
  • Explore the Museum’s collection of medieval artefacts

This program will be tailored for each group as there is not enough time to cover all of these activities.

Minimum 20 students (or equivalent cost $297), maximum 60 students (contact us for options with larger groups)

Cost: $14.85 per student
