THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT
On Saturday 19 September Jane Austen fans and hopeless romantics alike will once again get the chance to spend an afternoon with the devilishly handsome Mr Darcy at the Abbey Museum’s Picnic at Pemberley.
The grounds at the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology will be transformed into a picturesque Regency paradise to raise funds to build an art gallery to house the fabulous Old Masters and Icons in the Museum collection.
Gates open at 11.30am. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic lunch, or pre-purchase a picnic hamper. Afternoon tea is included in the adult and child admission.
This year we will be hosting a regency dance workshop, commencing at 10.00am and we encourage visitors to purchase a ticket for this to help make the most of the afternoon festivities.
Guests to the Picnic will sip tea from the finest china, indulge in a wide selection of home made Regency treats and participate in a variety of diverting activities including Pall Mall – a simple form of croquet, Battledore -played with a shuttlecock and a small bat, Game of Graces, Maypole & Regency dancing. The ever popular Archery will be open to guests between 1 and 4pm, with Mr Damien Fegan.
The perfect memorabilia of the day is to take home professional photo/s of you and your group in all your Regency elegance, so don’t forget to call on the photo booth and Mr Darcy’s in house photographer “Mr Fitzpatrick” will be happy to oblige.
The event will conclude with a display from our Noble Militia.
Visitors to the event are encouraged to tour the priceless collection of artefacts on display in the Museum and view the magnificent Winchester Cathedral stained glass which is located in our Abbey Church.
Here’s a peak at our Picnic Hampers, this one is for 2 people.
