Picnic at Pemberley
On Saturday 10th September, Jane Austen fans and hopeless romantics alike will once again get the chance to spend an afternoon with the devilishly handsome Mr. Darcy at the Abbey Museum’s Picnic at Pemberley.
The grounds at the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology will be transformed into a picturesque Regency paradise, to raise funds to build an art gallery in which to house the fabulous Old Masters and Icons in the Museum collection.
This year we will be hosting a regency dance workshop, commencing at 10.00am. We greatly encourage you to join us for this workshop, it is a lot of fun!
Gates open for the afternoon’s festivities at 11.30am.
Guests are welcome to bring a picnic lunch, or pre-purchase a picnic hamper.
Afternoon tea is included in admission as well.
Scroll to the bottom of this page for tickets.
As guests to the Picnic at Pemberley, you can sip tea from the finest china, indulge in a wide selection of home made Regency treats, and participate in a variety of activities including Pall Mall – a simple form of croquet, Battledore -played with a shuttlecock and a small bat, Game of Graces and dancing.
Archery will be open to guests between 1 and 4pm. The event will conclude with a display from our Noble Militia.
This year, for the first time, you will be able to reserve a table for a minimum of 10 people. Once your bookings have been secured, please contact Mr Darcy’s Event Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org, with the names of the members of your party and a table will be allocated for you.
Another new addition to our Pemberley program is a presentation from the Jane Austen Society of Australia where you can gain a greater insight into the author and the times in which she lived.
While you are here, why not take a tour of the priceless collection of artefacts on display inside the Museum and view the magnificent Winchester Cathedral stained glass which is located in our Abbey Church!
We will also be running a raffle on the day well, where you can win yourself some beautiful regency themed goodies. Tickets will be $2 for one ticket, or 3 tickets for $5, or seven tickets for $10.
